Windows 7 = October 23rd, 2009
So it's been awhile since anything techy has been posted so here's something to fill the quota. As some of you may know by now, Windows 7 has taken shape and is getting ready for its RC version to hit the public pretty soon. Well it looks like some dudes over at Acer spilled the beans and have announced they're all-in-one PC will be ready to order on Oct. 23rd with Windows 7.
So if you're looking for a brand new PC, you may wanna wait until the end of October to get one since Vista is pretty much obsolete...both by Windows XP and 7.

Poppy Festival 2009!!!! WHOOOHOO
Went to the annual Poppy Festival at Lancaster Park (my family makes it a mission to go to these every year) and it turned out to be ok. I got to see lots of people walk around, lots of cowboy hats, Roamin Roman Hoplites, lotsa Jazz, and ate some BBQ and Funnel Cake. Oh yeah, I also got some more time in on FFIII but Im severly stuck at the Golden Castle part... Here's some pics so you can virtually relive PoppyFEST 2009!!!!

Fallout 3: New Vegas
So Fallout 3 was a pretty cool game and it was one of the rare titles I actually sat down and played through to the end. So what's next? Bethesda has just announced the next Fallout game, "Fallout: New Vegas" which will be released sometime next year. It's important to note that this is not a sequel...or quadruquel to the Fallout series, just Fallout 3 set in or near Las Vegas in the same engine/period. Cool, I guess. I can't expect to wait 5 years for the next one to come out, I'd be 29 by then...fook that's scary.

Time Warner Cable & Their Crappy Tiered Billing Plans
I've been following all the news surrounding Time Warner Cable for the past couple of weeks or so regarding their new "Tier Service" marketing. Now TWC isn't the first US ISP to place bandwidth caps on customers internet service (we have to thank Comcast for that) but TWC is the first to place different maximum bandwidth caps on their monthly plans. Don't let their PR fool you, they aren't the good guys here and are only doing this to help bring in more cash from their "power" users (anyone who streams movies, watches online TV, download games...which contains alot of people according to the number of subscribers/accounts/sales).
Here's a quick look at the new pricing system:
10 GB, 20 GB, 40 GB and 60 GB for Road Runner Lite, Basic, Standard and Turbo packages, respectively. Package prices will remain the same. Overage charges will be $1 per GB per month.
*estimated avg. streaming movies for 7 hours a week = 40GB
This is bad news. Not only is TWC my ISP, I was quite happy with their service up until now. Even though they're not actively testing my area with this bullshit plan pricing, I refuse to sit idly while they are performing these business decisions. Placing caps like this on internet service can effectively put a choke hold on online services, and with no good reason to boot.
So if Time Warner Cable is your ISP, please either consider writing them an email just to let them know you know what's going on and aren't down with it. Also, please begin checking out other comparable services like AT&T U-Verse or Verizon Fios if they are in your area.

ZuneHD
New addition to my family...say hi DSi
So I picked up a DSi a couple days ago and I'm finding it to be a pretty cool little system. I've always kinda looked the other way with Nintendo's crazy popular hand-held due to the overall "cuddliness" of the system. After actually browsing through the various titles for the DS, I could actually see myself putting in lots of hours playing awesome remakes of FFIII, FFIV, and Chrono not to mention GTA, Castlevania and Advanced Wars. Add the promise of DLC through the DSWare shop and it's definitely a nice console to have on you.
The camera is pretty neat, but since this is my first DS I can't really look back in retrospective, still cool nevertheless although a bit unnessecary. SD card seems like a natural given, having extra storage space is necessary this day in age and is probably the biggest improvement hardware wise for the system. And you get a little more real estate on the screens as a nice cherry on the top. I wish I had this thing a few years ago when I didn't have alot of time to spend gaming at home...

8.25 to 9.25
If you live in CA be prepared to pay a little extra at the .99 store. Starting today, state sales tax rose from 8.25% to 9.25%. No, this isnt some April fools day joke, well maybe from the top cheese in Sacramento but certainly not from me. It doesn't add up to much for your average taco or McChicken but you might feel it on larger orders.
