Hello

Wow...almost Wednesday already? What's up with that?! Well, anyway I've been itching to put together a new system, especially since I'm ordering our parts for work from Newegg. I just put together a pretty sweet system, minus a graphic card, but it had a QX9650 and a few hard drives in Raid 0 plus WinXP 64 so the thing was pretty smoking. I miss a snappy system.

On the gamer side of things me, Jason, and Anthony have gotten down in some ol' Axis and Allies: D-Day edition. Definitely haven't played a strategy wargame in awhile so it was good to drop some dice on a wargame again. We broadcasted one full game a couple days ago if you wanna check it out, it's under our archives under Jan 26th around 5:30PM. I still need to find a better strategy for playing with Germany, I've lost three times already and it's usually in the same way. Anyway I'm expecting Axis and Allies: Europe to roll in this week so hopefully that'll go better for me.

Also we're still broadcasting FFXII and Persona 4 so be sure to tune in this week. We're also playing through Shadow of the Colossus and we're up to boss 13 out of 16 on that. All in all we'll be busy playing throughout the whole week. Umm...Skate 2 is fun, not necessarily groundbreaking like last year but fun. Definitely getting on my nerves tho since I can't complete 2 pro challenges (1 is SKATE vs. Koston and some other guy lol, the other is a stupid manual transfer).

That's it for now, until next time!

Beta-ing It Up

I recently got invited to become a beta tester for Quake Live. Quake Live is a cool little shooter based on the popular franchise its named after. "So what?" you probably thinking, "its just your run of the mill FPS" Well what made me flip a wig over this is that the entire game is run IN BROWSER. All you need is a copy of Chrome,Opera,Firefox or good ol' Netscape. Its has all the goods of a full fledged pc game, even dedicated servers for all your fragging needs. Check it out and sign up for yourself.

Quake!

skate or die, bro

Geez, work has been a real biznacho lately but at least I got a job, right? Anyway, I'll be using some of my hard earned income to pick up skate 2 today! With Diablo III, Starcraft 2, and Mafia 2 coming out later this year, this is all I can sink my teeth into for awhile (excluding that juicy DLC coming out for GTA IV and Fallout 3). Just a quick update, boss is coming!

Can you smell what the Barrack is cookin?

So today was the day Obama was inagurated as our 44th President, and he's black to boot. Yup. I'm glad we got a new president, but I never really get into anything political (altho I probably, strike that, definitely should be interested) so....here's some other African Americans that have impacted my life, y'know gaming wise:

1. Barret (FFVII) - First time I ever saw a cuss word in a video game, huge impact of badassness.
2. Carl Johnson (GTA:SA) - Bad mofo from the hood, CJ made me wanna be gangsta.
3. Shaq (Shaq Fu) - Shaq kickin the shit out of people, who wouldn't like that?!
4. MJ (Moonwalker) - Classic arcade game killing monsters while moonwalking everywhere, instant hit!

RPG Week

For some reason or another me and Jason have been putting in some serious RPG time for the past couple of days and will probably continue to do so for the rest of the week. Jason's picked up FFXII again and I'm throwing countless hours away with Persona 4, we'll probably play through to the end, so to those who enjoy a good RPG feel free to tune in this week around 7PM PST on our justin.tv channel.

Also, thanks for the kind gesture Eddie but I finally got around to putting up a new banner, but feel free to submit anything you create our way, we love fan/friend submissions (I just couldn't stand the Christmas banner anymore).

FF12 at 12!

Tonight I'll be broadcasting Final Fantasy 12 starting at 12:00 AM till daylight on Monday.

Final Fantasy 12 is an RPG game that has a deep storyline and lots of cutscenes. Although it may be a bit of a drag through the cg moments the battle system is not turn-base but instead real-time, meaning that there is no pause in battle unlike many RPGs.

All night I'll broadcast my adventure through FF12, so be sure to check it out.

338

Yup, that's the total number of posts since we started back in the summer of '08. Not too shabby. Just wanted to update the blog before going to bed tonight. I finally got to play some Persona 4 for a good amount of time. This is my first Shin Megami Tensei game and it's definitely an eye opener for me. It's got the classic JPOP music, JRPG menus and overcomplicated battle system and persona's, which I find kinda refreshing, and then it has the whole social life aspect of an everyday teenager trying to make it through high school. I know Persona 3 was setup like this, and probably the previous ones as well, but this is all still very new to me and I find it strange enough to actually like it.

I'll be broadcasting some more of it this weekend as I play through it (you can also view the stream over on the right under our justin.tv feed), so if you'd like to watch what type of RPG's are played over in Japan, or if you just like the series, then feel free to tune in around 7PM PST on Saturday and 12ish PM Sunday for an all-out Persona 4 weekend. And we really need to change our banner.

P.S. Thanks again for your kind gift bsonicb!

The Life Cycle!

Was just browsing around till I found this clip of Goldman's, from House of the Dead, voice acting. Hilarious! After watching this RJ stated that we should get this game for the wii and also get those sweet ass pistol-cases for the wii motes. That's a night to broadcast both game and webcam.

Holy Crap

It's Friday! Been pretty busy at work this week which is where I usually post from so sorry bout the updates. Here's a recent trailer for Killzone 2 which is going to drop Feb. 27th, enjoy!

Oh no I spilled the water!

I've always wanted tho own those Shamwows! You know, those towels that absorb large amounts of water.

I've been looking at videos on the tube and I see lots of parodys or people that use the WRONG shamwow towel. Maybe they think the small towel can hold water twice its size? I'm not sure, I know I'd use the large orange towel all the time. So here's a funny video I found from the tube, I think it might be because of his voice.

Weekend Overkill

Sum Sunday

Sunday has rolled around once again, I was able to play through Half-Life and kill Nihilanth (end boss) for the first time, although I gotta admit I did it in a cheesy way. I didn't know you could get stuck inside his head like that. I kinda wish I played that back in the 90's, I would have totally been blown away. Anyway, our DnD miniatures finally came in so I was pretty psyched about that, especially since I've never painted one before (I had to paint mine, and I re-painted Jason's just for the heck of it) and they came out OK, or at least I think. I know it's pretty uncool to admit it, but I enjoyed adding some color to these lifeless miniatures, I think I may try painting some more. Yup that pretty much sums up the week for me, be good kids!

Yeah

Sorry about not posting last night, you know how crazy Friday's get for me. Spent last night at the club, got crazy with some girls and rented a limo and went down to....dammit, ok I painted my DnD miniature, ate some Chipotle, and promptly went to bed. You happy now?

Will post something more...bloggable later on.

P.S. We really need to change that banner, it's like leaving your XMas lights up after December...

P.S.S. I'm looking at you Jason.

Windows 7 Beta Officially Goes Public

MS has announced at CES today that the leaked Windows 7 beta will officially go public tomorrow, January 9th (not that anyone was really waiting to get their hands on it since it was leaked in late December). Also, it was noted that the leaked 7000 build will be the same version that will be made available to the public tomorrow. After a few quirks with installing the OS due to some registry issues from a previous installation, I was finally able to get it up and running after about 4 or 5 formats. So far it seems like a more optimized Vista, which definitely feels good to use finally. Some things I've noticed.

- New loading GUI is cool, I like flashy lights.

- I generally don't like huge taskbars but this one seems ok, everything seems resized to fit better and I can finally close a specific window inside a group without actually opening it.

- Show Desktop icon is embedded to the right of the clock, good move.

- Shut down defaults to actually shut down your computer, not sleep mode like before. I prefer clean boots.

- Stupid Welcome window doesn't pop up anymore, like you need to be reminded of your system specs in the first place.

- UAC has been toned down alot by default, finally feel like an Admin again.

- Definitely snappier than Vista as far as general browsing, opening folders, and installations, although still kinda graphics heavy.

Will play around with it a bit more and leave some more feedback later. If you've got a spare PC lying around that meet's the min requirements, give it a try, especially if you didn't like or try Vista, you might be surprised.

Skate 2 Morrow

EA is releasing the Skate 2 demo tomorrow (Jan 8th, 2009) which will reveal the updated city of San Vanelona, new threads/boards, and even has an online party mode you can play over Xbox Live. Skate was probably the best skating game I've ever played due to how intuitive the controls were and just how they approached the whole skating scene with realism in mind. Ok maybe not so realistic but definitely more believable than the countless years of Tony Hawk. The game is coming out on Jan 21st for the 360 and PS3.

End of the World draws NEAR!

A piece of Palmdale died today. Remember the Taco-In, or better known as the Ta o-In, where Jason graciously gave their Tacos 3 Jason heads? That place has been here since we moved here in '90 (probably been here since the 80's or earlier actually). Well it looks like that that poor little historical landmark that sat on Palmdale Blvd right next to the train tracks couldn't make it through our economic crisis and have sold out :'( . Now, I've only eaten there maybe like 5 times but I'm sure that place was a staple for many hard working Mexicans and def was a part of Palmdale's youthful culture. Now it's a Terriyaki Grill place with a brand new solid sign, which totally doesn't have any missing letters which really sucks.

Times are changing, I'm getting older, Palmdale is getting older, I guess it didn't really sink in until I didn't recognize the Ta o-In not being there anymore...

Here's to you, Ta o-In:

Officially Day 1 '09

Well New Years was pretty good, can't complain, at least I didnt get fired today like last year (lol...?) Wen't and saw Benjamin Button, was ok but it was kinda too long and kinda too lovey but acceptable I guess just to see a guy grow backwards. Finished the day off with a nice Steak, Eggs, and Pancakes at IHOP which totally was a success and listened to some Dave Brubeck to finish off the evening. So Happy New Years guys, sorry no game night tonight I've got the Itis but will definitely play something tomorrow.
