Fookin Wednesday

In case you didn't know, it's Wednesday people...you can pretty much just ignore this as it's just filler for another busy day of the week. Here's a quick run down for today:

Hip: ZuneHD
Limp: Apple TV
Games: re-installing FFXI is a PAIN! Oh, America's Army 3 Beta released over at fileplanet
News: We didn't die today
Forecast: Shorts would have been nice today, scratch that...

Back to you Ron!

Here's a nice lax remix of a familiar tune we can both listen to while waiting for my game to finish installing (or you can just leave, thx for visitin come back soon!)

Mafia II Delayed

Well...shit. 2K just reported that Mafia 2 is going to be delayed for a late release, "fiscal" release of 2010. Mafia was definitely a sleeper hit and it always felt like a more authentic "Godfather" game than the actual EA Godfather games, so I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel. Anyways, I guess it's a good thing that the game is being worked on longer, but hopefully not as long as Duke Nukem Forever... Here's some Mafia footy to help lift your spirits.

Start Pinching Those Pennies

Here ya go boys. The first OFFICIAL photo released by Microsoft themselves. The Zune HD is the real deal. Its headed for a release this fall. Just looking at these mug shots is enough to make me salivate. Only some official details have been released, a 3.3-inch, 480 x 272 OLED MULTITOUCH display, built-in HD Radio receiver, and HD output. The HD output will require a separate dock (lets hope it ships with it). Its of course gonna have support for applications like the G1. HA! you thought i was gonna say iPhone! Of course their is going to be an internet browser but.....heres comes the bad news....its IE based (but then again....HACKERS REJOICE!). Thats its for specs. Oh, and did i mention that Microsoft announced the Zune is going to be at E3, "Zune integration is coming to the Xbox and Xbox Live" You have permission to cry with joy.

OnLive

Sorry for the lack of posts, FFXI is a little...time consuming. Anyways, I'm pretty sure most of you have heard of the OnLive service that's got people scratching their heads in disbelief lately. If you don't, then here's a quick run-down. You're supposed to hook up this little box to your router/modem, and through that you can access a huge gaming "cloud" where you'll be remotely playing games with the power of a high-end PC, resulting in a subscription based gaming service that will let you play a library of games over your internet connection. Sounds pretty spiffy, huh?

People are kinda skeptical right now since we haven't really seen it in action, and since the internet is sometimes the interNOT, quality of what you'll be playing is definitely a concern. Anyways, it looks like OnLive will not be at E3, so it's definitely looking a little more sketchier now.

FFXI Update #2

Another night wasted playing FFXI, I'm starting to get back in the groove of grinding in this horrible hell-hole of a game in which I tie with many fond memories. Tonight was my first re-baptism under fire, lead tank in an actual EXP party. Imagine going to watch your favorite pianist only to realize that hes drunk, has ADD, and has short term memory. It went down something like that.

I ended up getting 1K exp before one of the party members "couldn't take it anymore" and left, resulting in the whole party disbanding. Great start, eh? Here's to tomorrow...

A future look at a "Microsoft" home

One good thing about getting older is letting technology develop and mature. For example, in a rough 5-10 years we can expect to see things like this in our homes. How much longer till Skynet takes over?

New Zune in June?

Another Zune report for those who have one/care. It looks like we might be getting the Zune HD sooner than expected. Thanks to a twitter update from MS (really? Twitter updates have come this far?) they dropped a little message saying that new Zune hardware will be dropping sometime in June. There's rumors going around that this could also be the new Zune phone that's supposedly coming out from Verizon, but like always, time will tell.

As a side note, the new Zune HD is a beast and anyone looking to get a new PMP should take a serious look at what it has to offer, don't toss it aside just cause it doesn't have the half-eaten apple logo.

Final Fantasy XI is like a brain freeze

For whatever reason, Jason and I are back in Vana'diel again. For the fourth or fifth time. The game is not even really fun. You die alot, you lose lots of XP, you grind hours upon hours just to level, then you grind for gil for even more. Seriously, who plays this game? Well, I guess it just makes it that much more satisfying when you actually do achieve something. Hopefully we'll stick with the game longer than we did last time, we actually have a plan in mind! Expect tales of epic proportions to be forthcoming...

Modern Warfare 2

Still Call of Duty. Still Action Packed. Expect to cap off some more terrorists/radicals/elitists on November 10th, 2009

A little announcement from PETA concerning Gamers:

Dragon Rising

Reports are coming through of the next Double Dragon movie entitled "Double Dragon Rising", no details yet.

Oh wait, it's a game? The sequel to Operation Flashpoint is slated for a Fall release. A little "rivalry" has kinda split the fan base for the series since the original dev team who created the first one had split off and did their own thing with ArmA (and soon to be released ArmA 2) while Codemasters holds the rights to the actual franchise title Operation Flashpoint. Still looks good enough to try out though.

DJ Amantage in the House!

It looks like Activision has confirmed a Fall release for their upcoming games DJ Hero, Guitar Hero 5, and Band Hero. After regretfully picking up World Tour earlier this year (what a nightmare...) I'm kinda hesitant about going all out for DJ Hero, and I've kinda lost my enthusiasm for yet another Guitar Hero game since Rock Band 2 is so great.

It's gonna be kinda weird since all the Guitar games have kinda evolved into a party game, yet having a multiplayer DJ game might be kinda weird. Well, look forward to completing your virtual music imitation set this Fall (P.S. anybody wanna buy a defective, but brand new, full World Tour set?)

Sims is no fun.

One of my worst fears, and I am so not looking foward to the Sims 3 coming out on June 2nd, 2009.

Duke Nuked Forever?

You're 10 or 11, your cool ass uncle or other cool relative brings over some games to play and somehow you gain control of the mouse and keyboard. You pop some caps off in some 2D aliens, fly around with a jet pack, and visit a virtual bar and strip joint, and think to yourself THANK YOU GOD FOR THIS SWEET ASS GAME AND FOR MY SWEET ASS UNCLE! Sorry, a little retrospect on Duke Nukem 3D.

So apparantly rumors are going around that 3D Realms might be getting axed and the infamous sequel Duke Nukem Forever will finally be laid to rest. Honestly, I can't really say I care, the idea was really cool like 10 years ago but seriously, what have these guys been doing? What the hell happened? I loved Duke Nukem back in the day and would definitely get DNF the day it's released, if ever, but if that day never happens that's cool too. I've made peace with that.

ElephnatCast 5/5/09

Domain Change, GO!

elephnat has finally made it's first official splash on the interweb with an actual dedicated .com domain. The transfer should take about 3 days to complete but most of you should be able to visit the site through elephnat.com . To those who are lazy and don't want to update your bookmarks, elephnat.blogspot.com will also redirect you to our new host, so don't worry.

With that said, we just recorded our "weekly" podcast and it'll be posted later on today (Happy Cinco de Mayo people). In the meantime, if you got anything you'd like to say or want a shoutout etc on the elephnetcast, send an email over to emailus@elephnat.com .

Bad News for Island Bears

It appears that the sole company's island that owns the .TV domain registration is sinking. If you enjo....wait what? An island can sink? Wtf, did a whale like collide with it or something or is it like sitting on an edge of a huge underwater cliff? Oh yeah, um, apparantly godaddy.com is telling people they shouldn't be registering any new .TV domains since the island, which is called Tuvalu, is sinking. For some reason or another they don't appear to be trying to move the actual hardware that's needed to another location (I'm making an assumption here, but I don't know how all that networking stuff actually works), so sites like Justin.tv, ustream.tv, gamecop.tv, etc. will need to start thinking of something...or they'll be going down with the ship (I know, bad joke, but it's the effort that counts!).
